Job description: Training & Development SpecialistWe are seeking an experienced insurance professional passionate about empowering others through education and professional development. Join a growing and dynamic team as a Training & Development Specialist focused on onboarding and upskilling insurance service professionals across personal and commercial lines.This is a unique opportunity to help shape the culture and performance of a respected independent, regional insurance agency in a high-growth mode with locations across Maine and the greater NYC area.Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate onboarding for new hires, covering agency systems, workflows, and insurance fundamentals.
- Develop and maintain training programs for personal (auto, home, umbrella) and commercial (GL, property, workers’ comp) lines.
- Provide hands-on instruction for servicing tasks: policy changes, renewals, certificates, endorsements, cancellations, and claims support.
- Train staff on carrier platforms, quoting tools, and service portals to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Coach on professional communication via phone, email, and client management systems.
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards, E&O practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Track trainee progress through feedback, coaching, and performance assessments.
- Create and update training materials including SOPs, checklists, and reference guides.
- Collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts to keep training content current.
- Promote continuous learning through cross-training, education sessions, and knowledge-sharing.
- Partner with external training resources to enhance curricula.
- Travel to office locations for in-person training (day and occasional overnight trips).
- Support training across departments such as bonds, sales, HR, accounting, and benefits.
- Contribute to special projects and evolving training needs.
Qualifications:
- Experience in instructional design and insurance training (personal and commercial lines).
- Strong facilitation skills across classroom, virtual, and one-on-one formats.
- Ability to tailor training to various learning styles using interactive methods.
- Skilled in developing assessments to measure training effectiveness.
- Effective coaching and feedback abilities.
- Experience creating development plans with clear performance benchmarks.
- Proficiency in agency management systems (especially Epic), quoting tools, and compliance procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple training schedules and updates.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with industry trends.
- Tech-savvy with platforms used for training delivery and management.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support training initiatives.
