Job description: The Manufacturing Project Engineer will play a vital role in managing and overseeing key engineering projects within the manufacturing sector. This temporary position offers the opportunity to apply technical expertise to drive efficiency and quality improvements in a fast-paced environment.Job Summary:As a Manufacturing Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and supporting engineering projects that improve manufacturing processes, enhance productivity, reduce costs, and ensure operational efficiency. You will work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, and external vendors to deliver successful outcomes on a variety of plant-level initiatives.Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and manage capital and process improvement projects from concept through implementation.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to define project scopes, goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Specify, procure, and oversee the installation of manufacturing equipment, tooling, and automation systems.
- Support the launch of new production lines, layouts, or process changes.
- Evaluate current processes for opportunities in efficiency, safety, and cost reduction.
- Ensure all project activities comply with internal safety and quality standards as well as regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, status reports, and engineering records.
- Work with external contractors and suppliers to coordinate design, installation, and commissioning efforts.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or plant engineering role.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design tools.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with capital equipment selection and installation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional teamwork.
- Knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in regulated manufacturing (e.g., food, medical device, automotive, aerospace)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Six Sigma Green Belt
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Project
