Job description: Trane San Francisco is hiring a General Sales and Business Development Leader based in the Sunnyvale, CA Commercial Office to oversee the greater San Francisco Bay Area/Northern California District. In this role, you will function as General Sales and Business Development Leader for all company business divisions, including new systems/ equipment, existing building services, controls/building automation, rentals, turn-key and energy services contracting. The overall responsibility for the right person is a tremendous opportunity for personal growth, advancement, and income opportunity with one of Trane’s top sales districts in the county.You will be responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, maximizing account penetration, earning a greater share of all customers, and creating long-term customer loyalty with consulting engineers, contractors, and building owner accounts. This Sales leader role covers all the responsibilities, processes, and functions required for building strategic and collaborative sales teams, meeting sales goals, and delivering business results.This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule and will be based out of the main Sunnyvale, CA. location. Flexible work from home options available for the right individual.Responsibilities:
- Leadership for the following functions: customer and district sales management, new customer acquisition, customer satisfaction measurement, price management, marketing, maximizing account penetration, market penetration, customer retention, hiring and on-boarding of new sales associates, continual assessment of skills, administering necessary training, setting quotas, accurate sales forecasting, and consistent use knowledge of Trane sales tools and systems.
- Manage the annual and long-term development and delivery of financial results for the Sales Office. Responsible for achieving annual objectives regarding profit, volume, margins, business mix, and share for all business streams.
- Assemble account teams with account managers with differing business development requirements, customer focus, experience, sales cycles and product portfolios.
- Responsible for sales office compliance with company policies, procedures, LOA, and operational integrity.
- Support human capital strategies such as employee engagement, recruitment and retention.
- Perform various general management responsibilities for the 3 sales locations, Sunnyvale, Oakland and Santa Rosa/Petaluma commercial sales offices, including Global/National Accounts along with organizing and scheduling sales meetings.
- Assist with Vertical Market Development, helping to explore new areas for sales growth with new and existing customers. This could include attending industry conferences (some out of town) and coordinating meetings with our account managers, Trane and our ancillary vendor partners as needed.
- Involvement and leadership in industry organizations such as ASHRAE and others that supports our business growth and customers.
Qualifications:
- Minimum eight (8) years in HVAC industry is required, with a least (4) years in a sales leadership role, such as team leader or group sales manager. Strong preference for current or prior Trane experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business or equivalent from a four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Willingness to have a residence in the San Francisco Bay area or already live in the SF area. While the daily schedule to be “in office” is flexible/hybrid this is not a remote/out of town position
- Trane sales/management in the HVAC industry or related experience is required.
We offer highly competitive compensation, which includes some or a combination of these income channels: salary base, commissions, MBO (managed business objectives) income based on meeting goals/objectives, bonus based on department growth and other metrics that tie to the P and L. Depending on the skill level and experience of the candidate the total compensation package for the right candidate could be $500,000+.
