The Business Coordinator is fiscally responsible for the coordination of all activities related to the Yakama Nation Language Program. The Business coordinator will work closely with the Ichishkin Sinwit Management and Cultural Department Deputy Director to ensure operations of the program including quarterly budget reports. The Business Coordinator prepares budgets, ensures grant compliance, writes contracts for professional services, supervises timekeeping, reimburses sub-pay for public school districts, and provides honorarium to elder advisers on a monthly basis. The Business Coordinator must be familiar with Ichishkin Sinwit, have the willingness to continue to learn language, be aware of unwritten laws and our Treaty of 1855, and have working knowledge of T-31-16, T-32-18, GCM-09-2019.Examples of Work Performed:Prepare and monitor daily a single entry cuff account to ensure transactions are reconciled to double-entry D365 detailed general ledger report for each language program budget.Provides verbal and written financial reports which are technically accurate while also being understandable to people without a business background.Respectfully guide elders through tribal invoicing to ensure honorariums are provided in a timely manner.Work with public school district accountants to reimburse for sub-pay to cover Ichishkin teachers attending quarterly professional development with Cultural Department Deputy Director.Assist deputy director and management in monitoring language budget; be familiar with budget line items and funding sources; provide technical assistance to the deputy director for research, analysis, making recommendations, compiling, reporting, planning, management, and evaluation of the department goals and objectives relative to the budget.Coordinate, organize, calculate, verify and/or work to correct assignment accounts (past, present, future) for compliance with budget policies and procedures of the Yakama Nation award agencies grant & contract guidelines.Establish and maintain internal controls and filing systems for programmatic and fiscal documents for the department necessary for the performance of specifically assigned accounts; this includes award documents, invoices, cash advances, reimbursements, and related documents.Ensure adherence to the Yakama Nation Policies and Personnel Manual, Finance, Purchasing, Archives, and Grants & Contracts as related to the Department of Culture.Attend meetings and workshops to stay informed of state, federal, local, government to government regulations.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of Department of Education Electronic Application System for Indian Education (EASIE) Title VI (A, Subpart I) Formula Grants.Knowledge of federal and state fiscal cycles including reporting and expensing deadlines.Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics-365 Accounting System.Knowledge of YN Tribal, Grant, and Contract policies and procedures.Knowledge of Yakama Nation Culture and Traditions.Knowledge of Professional Services Contracts and invoicing.Knowledge of the YN financial policies and procedures, documents and timeframe necessary for expenditure and accountability of funds.Knowledge of State and federal regulations.Ability to make an analysis and prepare financial spreadsheets, presenting financial reports.Minimum Requirements:Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting, with five years of progressively responsible bookkeeping responsibilities with experience in grant & contracts or tribal accounting work experience.A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the position may substitute.Required to pass pre-employment criminal background test.Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
