Job description: Electrical Designer – Level 1 & 2Location: Wilsonville, AlabamaClient- Alabama PowerContract- 4 MonthsExperience Level: 1-10Education Requirements:Associate degree in Electrical Engineering , Electrical Design , or a related field (required)Bachelor’s degree is a plusJob Summary:The Electrical Designer will support electrical design efforts by collaborating with engineers and cross-functional teams to develop system layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams for industrial, building, and automation applications. This entry-level role requires strong proficiency in CAD software , a solid understanding of electrical engineering principles , and the ability to contribute to design projects in a highly organized and detail-oriented manner.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with project teams to understand electrical design requirements and objectivesDevelop electrical layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks Electrical, etc.)Design electrical systems for industrial machinery, building systems, and automation projectsSelect and specify electrical components, equipment, and materialsEnsure all designs comply with applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NEC, IEEE)Assist in code reviews and design updatesWork with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to integrate electrical systems into broader project designsIdentify and resolve design-related issues, providing innovative and compliant solutionsCreate and maintain organized project documentation , including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs)Prepare technical documentation for project deliverablesPerform quality checks and peer reviews of electrical designs to ensure accuracy and completenessQualifications & Skills:1–10 years of experience in electrical design or a related fieldProficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks ElectricalKnowledge of electrical engineering principles and design practicesFamiliarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, IEEE)Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality deliverablesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teamsExperience with PLC programming and control systems is a plusAbility to build effective relationships with plant personnel, engineers, and vendors
