The ideal candidate has a strong eye for trend-driven design, a deep understanding of textiles, and experience in the home industry.Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop soft home products aligned with market trends, customer needs, and brand direction.
- Create original prints, patterns, color stories, and fabric selections tailored to seasonal collections.
- Prepare detailed design specs and tech packs for vendors and manufacturers.
- Research trends, materials, and construction techniques to drive innovative and competitive designs.
- Collaborate with product development teams, buyers, and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and quality.
- Develop and present concept boards, mood boards, and product ideas to internal teams or clients.
- Revise designs based on feedback, production requirements, and cost considerations.
- Stay informed on industry trends, sustainability practices, and competitor product offerings.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in home textiles or soft goods design.
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Industrial Design, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD software for textile and product design.
- Strong knowledge of fabric construction, printing techniques, and home product development.
- Ability to create detailed technical specifications and collaborate with overseas vendors.
- Excellent trend awareness with the ability to develop commercially viable designs.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a freelance capacity.
- A portfolio showcasing relevant home soft goods designs.
Compensation/Benefits:
- The approximate hourly rate range for this position is $50.00 – $60.00. The offered hourly rate for this position will vary based on role requirements, skill set and years of experience.
