Job description: The Senior Control Engineer at Heartland Controls will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for various industrial processes. This role will involve leading complex automation projects, ensuring that all control system components meet industry standards, and collaborating closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The Senior Control Engineer will also provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers in the team.Key Responsibilities:
- Control System Design & Development: Design and develop control systems, including PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA systems, and custom automation solutions.
- Project Leadership: Lead control system projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring project milestones, deadlines, and budgets are met.
- System Integration: Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to integrate control systems into broader industrial processes.
- Programming & Configuration: Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems for various industrial applications, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
- Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for existing control systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing updates or fixes.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure that all control systems meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Prepare detailed documentation, including system designs, user manuals, and compliance reports.
- Client Communication & Collaboration: Work closely with clients to understand their needs, provide recommendations, and deliver custom control solutions that meet their specific requirements.
- Mentoring & Team Leadership: Mentor junior control engineers, providing guidance and support to develop their technical skills and knowledge.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with emerging control technologies and trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and process optimization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in control systems engineering, with a focus on industrial automation.
- Extensive experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.), HMI design, and SCADA system integration.
- Strong understanding of industrial control components, sensors, actuators, and communication protocols (Ethernet, Modbus, etc.).
- Proven track record of leading and managing control system projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex control system issues.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations related to control systems.
