An Engineer I has knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures.Job DescriptionThe Engineer II position is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer II position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. An Engineer II is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer II effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and variedThis position is for the electrical engineer/system owner for a natural gas combined cycle plant (Smith Energy Complex). It will include managing all technical electrical decisions for the station including preventative maintenance decisions, project development, risk management, and long-range planning. It also will require financial and project management. This person will also be highly involved in any design reviews for complex projects as needed. The position will also require interfacing with multiple departments to meet station and project objectives. This position will be expected to have the ability to handle multiple requests simultaneously to maintain proficiency with all assignments.ResponsibilitiesProvides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems in area of expertise.Assists in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities under the guidance of higher-level employees.Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches associated with the resolution of routine technical problems.Conducts basic engineering studies requiring little evaluation or ingenuity.Possesses knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures.Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.Supports the company’s goals and represents the company positively and professionally.Providing engineering and technical support for station manager Capital and O&M projectsOversight of projects managed by the Outage and Projects Support and COSO groups to assure the original intent of the project is met and appropriate stakeholders are given opportunity to help define scope and review design.***This position can be hired as either an Engineer I or Engineer II depending on experience***Required / Basic Requirements – Engineer IMust have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited programRequired / Basic Requirements – Engineer IIMust have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program2 years Minimum or related work experienceAdditional Preferred QualificationsUnderstanding of basic engineering theories and principles.Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.Good written and oral communication skills.Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.Understanding of basic principles of project management.Experience in the utility industry.Working ConditionsOnsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.Specific RequirementsMust have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited programA Master’s degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S.
