POSITION DESCRIPTION:Performs advanced administrative/technical support within the Sheriff’s Office Data Entry Services Unit. This is a State Authorized Exempt position and is ineligible for membership in a collective bargaining unit.CLASS DESCRIPTION:Performs advanced technical level administrative support work, which may include supervisory responsibility, under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work typically involves performing responsible clerical and secretarial work essential to the successful operation of a specialized function. Work may also include supervision of data entry staff and coordination and work scheduling of the data entry function. Work at this level may also include independent responsibility for a moderately complex clerical process.Include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Conducts in-depth analysis of complex computer systems.
- Performs various clerical functions, including but not limited to data entry of documents into MILES/NCIC, RMS, and PC databases, validating and expunging files, generating and maintaining case files, performing periodic maintenance reviews as indicated.
- Performs various record keeping functions, to include maintaining the criminal records repository and mug shot photographs database.
- Acts as “TAC” representative to Maryland criminal justice agencies.
- Handles inquiries from outside criminal justice agencies.
- Acts as a liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and the Clerk’s Office and coordinates actions between the two offices.
- This position is designated as emergency essential personnel and may be required to work in inclement weather or in the event of an emergency.
High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced training in analysis concepts.
- Demonstrated abilities in operating computers/printers.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as warrants, civil ex-partes, and other court orders.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with outside customers and representatives from the criminal justice community.
- Ability to calculate and analyze figures.
- Strong ability in analysis of several complex computer systems.
- Ability to regularly use independent judgment, analysis, evaluation, creativity, and consultation to carry out instructions presented in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Certification from METERS/NCIC.
- Must pass a rigorous background investigation.
- Possession of a valid Maryland driver’s license.
- Certified typing score of 50 WPM.
Expected salary: $43514 – 83866 per year
