This pivotal leadership role involves the strategic design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a cutting-edge computing curriculum. The ideal candidate will collaborate with a diverse team of faculty, industry experts, and students to ensure that the curriculum remains at the forefront of technological advancements and industry needs. The Director will balance academic and administrative responsibilities, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of computing education. This position reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer.Key Responsibilities:Curriculum Design and Development:
- Lead the strategic design and continuous enhancement of the Computing curriculum.
- Ensure the curriculum integrates rigorous theoretical foundations with practical, hands-on applications.
- Incorporate the latest advancements in computing technologies, tools, and methodologies into the curriculum.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching and assessment strategies to maximize student learning outcomes.
Faculty Collaboration and Mentorship:
- Collaborate with faculty members to develop course content, teaching materials, and assessment tools.
- Mentor and support faculty in adopting cutting-edge pedagogical approaches and integrating emerging computing technologies into their teaching.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative learning environment for both faculty and students.
Industry Engagement:
- Forge and maintain strong partnerships with industry leaders to ensure the curriculum remains aligned with industry needs and emerging trends.
- Facilitate internships, co-op programs, and industry-sponsored projects to provide students with real-world experience.
- Invite industry experts to guest lecture, lead workshops, and provide critical feedback on the curriculum.
Program Evaluation and Assessment:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive evaluation system to assess the effectiveness of the Computing curriculum.
- Collect and analyze data on student performance, learning outcomes, and satisfaction.
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform curriculum revisions and continuous improvement.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage the budget and resources allocated for the Computing curriculum.
- Oversee the scheduling and delivery of Computing courses.
- Supervise course facilitators and other support staff.
- Actively participate in faculty committees and contribute to the academic governance of the institute.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in computing research (peer-reviewed publications) and/or practical application (patents, product designs).
- Experience in teaching at the undergraduate level.
Experience:
- Proven track record in curriculum design, development, and assessment.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in collaborating with industry partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in developing online or blended learning courses.
- Familiarity with computing ethics and social implications.
- Publications in computing-related journals or conferences.
Appointment:
- This is a non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor faculty appointment.
