Job title: Freelance Commentator (Part-Time, Seasonal)

Job description: Freelance Commentators provide play-by-play or color commentator for athletic contests (specifically wrestling) on GardenStateHSWrestling or our affiliate broadcasts. In addition, commentators perform on screen interviews with coaches, athletes, and other athletic personnel live on the broadcast, or recorded for publication on the GardenStateHSWrestling.com social media channels.Required Qualifications
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s Degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Sports Media, or a similar field preferred)
- We will also accept applicants from those actively working on earning a degree in the fields listed above
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different schools in our coverage area (Hunterdon, Warren, Sussex, Morris, Essex, Passaic counties)
- Must be flexible and willing to work weekends and weekday evenings.
- Especially between December 2, 2024 and March 1, 2025
- Must have excellent communication skills
- 1-2 years of experience in providing play-by-play or color commentary for interscholastic or collegiate athletics (specifically in wrestling)
- Working knowledge of interscholastic wrestling (specifically NFHS rules)
- Knowledge of other interscholastic sports is a plus
Rate of PayRate of pay is determined based on the event, paid per diem.
