We have a mission that matters!Description of Work Located in Black Mountain, NC, Western Correctional Center for Women is a minimum custody facility on a 100+ acre compound that can house up to 366 inmates. This position is assigned to work in the Administration section and is supervised by the Administrative Officer I.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesThis position responsibilities will include:Manage the inmate trust fund accounts.Prepare of daily deposits, checks for canteen payments, postage, and welfare purchases, opening and closing inmate and employee accounts, transferring funds to other facilities, inmate special draws and money orders.Ensure that the trust fund is in balance on a daily basis, and that all funds are managed in accordance with DAC Policy and Procedures. Daily, weekly, and monthly reports are generated for the trust fund operations.Review the monthly canteen report.Responds to inquiries from inmates, staff and family members regarding trust fund issues through both verbal and written communications.Required to make daily trips to the bank for deposits and other needed transactions to meet the needs of the facility.Responsible for payment of welfare purchases through inmate banking system, procurement card or E-procurement.Perform various accounting functions through OPUS, CON and NCFS such as accounts payable, purchasing, E-procurement and usage orders, as well as other assigned duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.This is a full-time position 40 hours per week) with .Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for this position is NC02. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.About Western Correctional Center for Women.Western Correctional Center for Women (formerly Swannanoa Correctional Center for Women) opened on July 7, 2008 and is a minimum custody facility housing approx. 360 female offenders located in Black Mountain, NC. WCCW renovated four dormitories: Greenwood, Frye, Sloop and Gilliat. Renovations on the vocation building provided offenders with an educational classroom and an operating greenhouse. Renovations to the Buchanan building accommodated the increasing offender population and offer more educational classrooms and a medical wing. On Oct. 4, 2021, the facility’s name was changed to Western Correctional Center for Women.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesEffective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.
