Duration: 6+ Months ContractJob Description:MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (Majority of time will be spent at a CAD station working on designs)
- Redesign mechanical components to reduce installation cost, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs.
- Create, review, and update installation documentation and drawings as required.
- Redline existing drawings and follow up with drafting services or oversee draftsmen as required to resolve design issues.
- Execute changes in design to solve equipment/process issues.
- Take personal responsibility for all aspects of ensuring designs meet form, fit, and function goals established by internal customers and the project manager.
- Provide sketches or marked-up drawings as dictated by the project and evolutionary equipment needs.
DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCEEducation required:
- AAS REQUIRED in Engineering Design- Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent., BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering (Equivalent work experience may be considered in rare circumstances.)
Experience required:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience MUST

Unique or special requirements:
- Capable of generating a full drawing package for typical industrial equipment from assembly to detailed drawings.
- Thorough understanding of mechanical equipment/systems to enable proper new designs or modifications to existing ones.
- Routinely performs elementary design calculations; i.e., statics, hydraulics, power transmission, etc.
Equipment or software experience preferred:
- Windows, MS Office suite including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, AutoCAD® 2023, Vault, Inventor 2023
Travel Requirements:
- There may be a need to travel to the Concord Plant to collect drawing/equipment information or similar at an equipment vendor, but this would be rare. Position will require minimal time spent on the floor gathering info on existing equipment
Equipment familiarization preferred:
- A. Personal Computers
- B. Precision measurement devices such as Tape Measure, Calipers, Micrometers, etc.
- C. Knowledge of operation or direct experience with machine shop and fabrication shop processes that aid design for efficient manufacture.
ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:The team is based in Wilmington, NC. Contractors who excel and are interested in continuing beyond the initial project may be considered for additional assignments. However, these additional projects may not be located at the same place as the initial posting. We have multiple plants in NC. Future travel requirements will vary based on project needs and locations.(Hours will vary with no guarantee of OT, but 10- 20 hours per week is not uncommon and expected at times)#TB_EN
