This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will be a permanent position and member of the Technical Team upon project completion.This role will be initially responsible for assisting with various pre-commissioning and commissioning activities such as equipment preservation, spare parts, management of change, etc. with eventual project management roles for site projects up to ~$20MM as site is turned over to run and maintain activities.#HPCPThis position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations. #HPCPResponsibilities
- Assist with equipment preservation activities to protect instruments, piping, equipment, structural steel, and electrical items during pre-commissioning
- Assist with spare part management, intermediate management of change opportunities, PSSRs, etc. as needed during commissioning
- Design and execute capital and expense projects including modification and/or addition to facilities according to appropriate CPDEP project execution process and Chevron Phillips Engineering Standards
- Responsible for taking a project from conception, through detailed design and to financial closure after construction including managing the development and evaluation of all appropriate PSI and PSM documentation
- Coordinates activities of the integrated project team generally including representatives from engineering, operations, maintenance, environmental, safety, plant management and the product line SBU
- Interfaces with Field Construction Representative to ensure project execution and safety policies are consistently followed for all project assignments
- Manages schedule progress, cost control, financial tracking, reporting, and forecasting of projects

- Assists with developing and revising project engineering procedures and tools
- Provides engineering and design support to plant as required, including selection and procurement of engineering equipment and related services
- Supports turnaround project planning and execution
- Promote a safe environment by adhering to our Tenets of Operations, Life Saving Rules, Stop Work Responsibility, Conduct of Operations/ Operational Discipline, and timely incident reporting and investigation
Skills / Abilities
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs and equipment drawings
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Basic understanding of rotating and fixed equipment
- Excellent written and verbal communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize work to align with goals
- Understanding of safety issues in a hazardous environment
- Ability to establish respectful relationships with team members at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments such as construction, operations, maintenance, EHSS, and engineering
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience working in a petrochemical plant or refinery OR a High School Diploma/GED or higher with at least 7 years of project management experience in a petrochemical plant or refinery
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional or other project certification
- Experience working in and using SAP, scheduling/project control/cost estimation software
- Previous turnaround or capital project experience
