Job description: CSAT Solutions is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the Senior Automation Engineer role for our fully onsite position in Houston, TX. This person will be critical in the implementation and ongoing success of our upcoming AutoStore installation, an automated parts retrieval system.Role and Responsibilities:
- Leads cross-functional internal and contractor teams in the design, installation, commissioning, and testing activities for medium-large warehouse automation capex projects ($1M+)
- Manages multiple projects at once, ensuring timely delivery within budget; plans, arranges, and organizes projects and communicates status to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintains and optimizes warehouse automation system performance through adjustments to equipment control modules and/or machine run settings, resolving periodic system issues and identifying potential risks
- Ensures all automation systems and processes comply with safety standards and regulations
- Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation for automation projects
- Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert for all automation and material movement systems within the company, providing guidance and support to maintenance, operations, or other internal teams
- Creates and/or updates machine analytical performance reports through Microsoft PowerBI, Excel, and other visualization software
- Ensures seamless integration of new automation solutions with existing systems and processes
- Utilizes 2D and 3D CAD drawings to develop current and future facility floorplans including automation equipment and operator workstation layouts
- Leverages industry trends to proactively identify issues and opportunities to implement improvements
- Cross-trains across business units in process standards and methodologies
- Mentors engineers and others in process and automation methodologies
- May develop & co-ordinate activities associated with 5S & Six Sigma methodologies to promote continuous process improvements
- Responsible for meeting ISO 9001 and/or other quality system requirements in their department
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor and manager
Skills, Education and Training:
- B.S. degree in one of the following or related fields; mechanical, manufacturing engineering; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience in data mining/manipulating and developing reports and procedures
- 5 or more years of experience in manufacturing / automation engineering or related engineering role; PC Service Operation exposure preferred
- Familiar with 2D and 3D CAD Software
- Familiar with Process Simulations, PowerBI or other visualization tools
- Experience with WCS/WES and Issue Resolution/debugging with vendor
- Experience integrating AMRs/AGVs, Conveyance or Robotic-based Warehouse Storage Automation Equipment
- Demonstrated project management capability in large projects
- Process mapping skills using Microsoft Visio
- Data analysis capability – statistical analysis of the data to make decisions, data mining/manipulating and analyzing to develop reports and procedures
- Proficient English abilities required
- Email and written messaging with intermediate Excel knowledge
- Working knowledge of Lean 6 Sigma quality principles e.g., ability to map process
- Proven experience in successful problem solving
- Excellent time-management skills
