- Maintain operational tools and processes supporting delivery of over 200, 000 hours of services annually (6000 hours weekly during the academic year) in a department of 145 staff interpreters, 60 captionists and 400 student notetakers who serve over 25% of RIT’s course offerings. Design and deliver reports to support operations and efficient use of resources, maintain timelines and processes for scheduling resources and staffing. Foster coordination and cooperation across the three service areas and 10 budget departments of DAS.
- Maintain accounting for $2 million annual budget, supervise the weekly provision of 1000 hours of supplemental services, and other areas as directed by Director of DAS.
- Assist with HR activities within division such as hiring, promotion, terminations, salary recommendation preparations, LOA approvals, etc., prepared for Director of DAS approval.
- Serve as project leadership for initiatives assigned by Director.
- Maintain and build partnerships with other departments at RIT needed to provide access including class notes scanning and distribution, ITS and Wallace Center for networks and course delivery systems, including remote access delivery to diverse RIT venues.
- Prepare reports to support reconciliation of expenses, tracking service trends, costs, and annual report data, and to support recommendations made for improving department efficiencies.
- Represent NTID/DAS to various RIT departments and initiatives (e.g., Office of the President, Provost, Student Affairs, new faculty and staff orientation, RIT advisors, Registrar, Res Life, Study Abroad, NSSO.)
- Provide general assistance and confidential consultation to Director of DAS.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- In-depth understanding of Access Service provision at a large comprehensive university with large numbers of diverse deaf and hard of hearing students and faculty trumps any other qualification. Knowledge of and experience with federal legislation, institute policies and practices, and current trends in access provision is essential. This position requires a minimum of ten years experience in Access Service delivery and administration, with a focus on demonstrated leadership and innovation.

- Big picture understanding of Access Services. Experience in the administration of interpreting/captioning in postsecondary education.

In addition to and in furtherance of the daily provision of access service, the Director of Operations is charged with the establishment of quality metrics and improvement systems to advance service quality and maintain high student satisfaction. The Director of Operations makes recommendations to the Director of DAS regarding optimal operational efficiencies for all processes significantly affecting central operations of Access Services. At times this involves the coordinating feedback and data from select staff throughout DAS, constituted on an ad hoc basis for the purpose of effecting needed implementations.
