Job description: TITLE FINANCIAL REPORTING AND COST ANALYSTDESCRIPTIONFinancial Reporting & Cost AnalystMills James is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting & Cost Analyst to join our finance team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and cost management across our projects. Financial Reporting & Cost Analyst will work closely with the management team to oversee financial compliance, job cost analysis, and departmental cost management.We are looking for a motivated and energetic individual who takes initiative and takes pride in their work, while ensuring cost accountability and operational efficiency.Financial Reporting & Cost Analyst Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accounting entries for various registers, journals, and logs following established Mills James procedures.
- Support accounts payable activities, ensuring timely and accurate invoice creation and entry.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and maintain detailed reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze and report on costs per project/job, including generating detailed job cost reports and identifying opportunities for cost efficiency.
- Update and maintain budgeting models, tracking departmental and project expenses against budgets.
- Prepare documentation for external audits and assist with strategic managerial reporting.
- Open and close jobs and purchase orders (POs).
- Manage CDA documentation with multiple organizations and assist in tracking compliance-related costs.
- Collaborate with clients to obtain POs and ensure billing aligns with approved budgets.
- Assist in training or supervising junior finance staff or interns to ensure quality and efficiency of work output.
Financial Reporting & Cost Analyst Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or four years of equivalent experience in accounting or finance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, technical forms, and reports.
- Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- High-level communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Adaptable to a continually changing environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
