Job Overview:Under the direction of the department director, assists in responsibility of overseeing and coordinating the clinical activities, operations, quality and safety of patient care and patient experience. Assists in supervising and evaluating the performance of the nursing staff as well as personal development and the management of staff retention. Focuses unit staff on provision of the optimal patient experience including utilization of evidence-based protocols and safety measures, verifying through nurse leader rounding.General Responsibilities:
- Assists in responsibility and accountability for the planning and provision of direct and indirect nursing care to the patient, family, care partner and appropriate others.
- Coordinates multi-disciplinary team members; directs and facilitates nursing staff in obtaining safe, optimal health care outcomes.
- Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team.
- Oversees unit-based education including orientation, ongoing unit-based education and competencies, EMR education and participates in/assists with hospital wide education
- Assist coordinators of various accreditations/certification programs with data collection, education and accreditation/certification process.
- Reinforces the concepts of Patient Centered Care to provide the foundation for all nursing care
- Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times
Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and customer service skills required * Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS at time of hire.
- Current active Florida or Compact Nursing License
- Prefer one year, full-time or 3 years, part-time experience in acute care setting.
- One to three years supervisory experience preferred
- Additional certifications required at start date or intrafacility transfer:
- All Nursing Units (except nursery): ACLS as of start date (New graduate RN’s wtihin 90 days of start date)
- Women’s Center: NRP as of start date (inexperienced L&D nurses within 90 days of start date)
- ICU/PCU: NIH within 90 days of start date.
- ER: PALS, CPI within 90 days of start date, NIH within 90 days of start date.
- PACU: PALS as of start date (inexperienced PACU nurses within 90 days of start date.
