Employment Type: Full-Time, OnsiteWe are seeking a Mechanical HVAC Engineer to join a well-established and growing engineering consulting firm specializing in the design and implementation of HVAC systems for commercial and industrial projects across Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects—ranging from pulp & paper industry facilities to educational and commercial buildings—within a collaborative, tight-knit team environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) for commercial, light, and heavy industrial facilities using AutoCAD, Revit, and Carrier HAP/Trane TRACE.Perform load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping layouts, and develop system specifications in accordance with applicable codes (Florida, Alabama, and Georgia Building Codes, ASHRAE, etc.).Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.Conduct field visits, site surveys, and assessments to evaluate existing systems and verify design feasibility.Support project management efforts, including budget tracking, client coordination, and construction administration activities.Ensure all designs meet energy efficiency, sustainability, and safety standards.Provide technical support during bidding, permitting, and construction, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.Professional Engineer (PE) license in-hand or ability to obtain within 6 months.3–5+ years of experience in HVAC design for commercial and/or industrial projects.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC load/design software (e.g., Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE).Working knowledge of mechanical codes, ASHRAE standards, and relevant state/local building codes.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.Willingness to travel occasionally to brownfield and greenfield job sites.
Preferred QualificationsLEED Accreditation or demonstrated experience in sustainable design.Experience with Design-Build or fast-track project delivery.Familiarity with construction administration, punch lists, and commissioning support.
