Nestled just minutes away from Washington, DC, Prince George’s County combines urban vibrancy with serene surroundings, offering an ideal setting to live, work, and enjoy life.The Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspections, & Enforcement is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Electrical Engineer Reviewer III (Engineer Reviewer 3G) grade G29 position, in the Building Plan Review Division.PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY 1000 HOUR POSITION WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF PERMITTING, INSPECTIONS, & ENFORCEMENTAbout the Position This is senior level professional level work relating to the analysis of electrical engineering construction plans, schematics, and specifications for compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, standards, and regulations. Incumbents may assume a supervisory or lead role in reviewing and examining the more difficult and complex engineering plans in the field of electrical engineering that require the application of advanced engineering principles. Incumbents may supervise the work of lower-level Engineer Reviewers. Assignments afford opportunities for extensive independent judgment and technical evaluation under the general supervision of an Engineer. Assignments are performed in accordance with established engineering principles and departmental policies and procedures.About The AgencyThe Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) is responsible for coordinating and enforcing standards that control what goes on before, during, and after construction. Staff from nine agencies, who work cooperatively on permit processing, business licensing, plan review, inspection and enforcement comprise Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement. The Mission of the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement is to promote economic development in Prince George’s County and protect the safety of County residents, businesses, and visitors through efficient permitting, inspection and licensing services to ensure compliance with established building, zoning and property standards codes.Examples of WorkReviews plans, documents, and projects to determine if they meet required laws, regulations and ordinances for electrical safety in accordance with National Electrical Code and county code subtitle 9Reads, analyzes, and interprets engineering plans, blueprints, specifications, and feasibility studies and test results to become familiar and knowledgeable about the nature, scope, and details of construction projects, identify problems/discrepancies in the initial design, and to determine compliance/non-compliance with established codes, policies, standards, and specificationsQualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the engineering or related scientific field determined by the requirements of the position (e.g., civil, environmental, architectural, mechanical, fire protection, or industrial)Three (3) years of professional plans review workORSeven (7) years of professional experience in construction, electrical, mechanical, or fire prevention work which includes three (3) years of professional plans review workPreferred Qualifications:
