This internship provides valuable real-world experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting your academic and career goals. This opportunity is part of a strategic partnership between Georgia-Pacific and Albany Technical College.Our TeamThe Albany Corrugated facility employs approximately 160 team members dedicated to supporting Georgia-Pacific as one of the nation’s leading corrugated packaging manufacturers. - Flexible part-time hours: 20-30 hours per week
- Work schedules will be accommodated around class times, testing, and school closures
Compensation
- $22.66/hour
- Funded jointly through a workforce development grant and GP contributions during the first 12 weeks
- GP assumes full wage responsibility beyond the 12-week period until ATC Mechatronics Program completion
What You Will Do
- Participate in on-the-job training (OJT) alongside experienced maintenance technicians and leaders
- Support the troubleshooting, maintenance, startup, and commissioning of plant equipment
- Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation
- Assist in routine preventive maintenance tasks and daily inspections
- Learn how to identify mechanical and electrical issues using measuring instruments, diagnostics, and drawings
- Practice safe work behaviors and contribute to maintaining a clean, hazard-free environment
- Engage in continuous improvement by identifying areas for operational or maintenance enhancements
- Build technical skills and professional confidence in a real-world industrial setting
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Currently enrolled and in good academic standing in the Mechatronics Program at Albany Technical College
- Strong interest in industrial maintenance, electrical and mechanical systems, and safety practices
- Willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a high-performing team

- Experience with hand or power tools
- Familiarity with maintenance concepts, such as troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, or machine diagnostics
- Interest in continuous learning, process improvement, and manufacturing excellence
