Scope of JobTo support the University’s development and fundraising activities for significant, complex and or major gift prospects to support university priorities.
Description of DutiesDirector of Development:

Senior Director of Development:

Supervision ReceivedGeneral supervision from assigned supervisor.
Supervision GivenDirect supervision of assigned staff.
Required EducationBachelor’s degree from an accredited university

Licenses/CertificationsAs condition of employment this position requires the applicant to be authorized to operate a University-Owned Vehicle for Official University Business. Per University of Texas System Policy 157, applicants will be subject to a motor vehicle record check for their most recent thirty-six (36) month history. Out of State Drivers are required to submit a 36-month history MVR from their prior State of residence(s).
Required ExperienceDirector of Development:
Three (3) years of experience in fundraising or a related field of resource development or philanthropy, including roles with extensive public facing focus experience. Demonstrated ability to meet goals and performance objectives, with proven ability to plan and implement fundraising solicitations.Senior Director of Development:

Preferred ExperienceHighly developed knowledge of the South Texas region and its business and philanthropic communities. Experience obtained in Higher Education. Direct higher educational fundraising experience.
EquipmentUse of standard office equipment. Preferred: experience with Raiser’s Edge
Working ConditionsNeeds to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel is required. Significant work required on weekends and/or evenings; regular travel is required within the Rio Grande Valley and occasional out of town travel. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment across the Rio Grande Valley.
OtherWell-developed capabilities in conceptualization, problem solving, attention to detail and task completion. Strong relationship building skills and a proven written and oral communicator.
