Job description: Job Title: NETA Field Technician (Level I – Senior Technician)
Location: Houston, TX (with travel requirements across North America)A nationally recognized, full-service EPC firm based in Houston, TX is seeking a skilled and experienced NETA Field Technician to join its growing team. This organization specializes in complex medium- and high-voltage electrical infrastructure, providing engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning services across North America.This position involves hands-on fieldwork including the testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage substation equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in electrical testing and maintenance, along with a solid understanding of industry standards such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA. Title and responsibilities will be commensurate with certification level and professional experience.Primary Responsibilities:Perform testing services on power systems and equipment, including:Protective relays and systemsCircuit breakersPower and instrument transformersPower system metering (meters, transducers, etc.)Power cablesGrounding systemsMotors and startersStation batteries and chargersAlarm systems and annunciatorsPersonal protective equipmentTroubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures and performance issuesRecommend corrective actions and repairsCreate detailed technical reports on testing procedures, findings, and recommended solutionsMaintain clear communication with clients and internal teamsCoordinate with project management on scheduling manpower and equipmentAdhere to strict safety standards—safety is a top organizational priorityPerform additional duties as assignedQualifications:Proficiency in PowerDB software is a plusStrong knowledge of AC/DC electrical fundamentalsFamiliarity with high-voltage substation components and systemsUnderstanding of protection and control systemsKnowledge of electrical and structural codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, ACI)Experience with electrical system drawings and drafting standardsAbility to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve technical issuesEffective written and verbal communication skillsTeam-oriented mindset with a collaborative approachEducation & Experience:NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV) is requiredAssociate degree in Electrical or Electronics Technology, or equivalent industry experienceMinimum of 2+ years in the high-voltage electrical fieldAdditional Requirements:Ability to lift up to 75 lbsMust pass pre-employment drug screening and background checkPhysical examination requiredMust be open to travel (minimum 50%)Valid driver’s license and clean driving record requiredAvailability for flexible work hours, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and night shiftsCommitment to safe work practices at all timesBenefits:This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:Medical, dental, and vision insuranceShort- and long-term disability coverageLife insurance401(k) plan with employer matchingFlexible spending accounts (FSA)Supportive and professional work environmentEqual Opportunity Employer:
