Job description: Our client is currently seeking a Plumbing Designer.Summary:
The Plumbing Designer will be responsible for designing systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. These drawings will be used for BIM coordination, pre-fabrication, and installation.Job Duties:
- Design and develop plumbing and fire protection systems, including hot/cold water, waste/vent, storm drainage, and gas systems.
- Prepare load calculations, fixture specifications, schedules, riser diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Work with AutoCAD (Revit experience is a plus) to draft piping systems and coordinate with project teams.
- Supervise junior designers, drafters, and technical assistants.
- Ensure compliance with building codes (IPC, NFPA 99, and other relevant standards).
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and local authorities.
- Provide on-site verification of plumbing systems and support construction administration.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- 5+ years of Plumbing design experience
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and practices
- Experience in drafting schematics and technical drawings with attention to detail
- Familiarity with building, plumbing, and fire protection codes
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey design concepts
Preferred:
- Revit/BIM experience preferred
- Plumbing Systems Design Certificate (from ASPE or similar)
Pay Range:
- $33 38/hr
