Job description: The mission of the Quantum-Enabled Computation Group is to explore, prototype, and demonstrate transformative computational advantage by leveraging quantized and entangled signals. Our work falls into three key thrusts: quantum computing with superconducting qubits, classical computing with single flux quanta in superconducting circuits, and quantum information science and algorithms. We also enable the broader US research enterprise via superconducting device foundries and open-source software development, and support the US Government as strategic Test and Evaluation partners and subject matter experts. Our interdisciplinary Group includes scientific experts in computer science, quantum information, device theory, materials science, fabrication and integration engineering, electrical and microwave engineering, and quantum physics.Job DescriptionThe Quantum-Enabled Computation Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks a full-time assistant technical staff member with a background in quantum computer science. This staff member will work within a group of senior and junior researchers that are investigating various aspects of quantum computer science including: quantum error correction, quantum algorithms, and resource estimation. The successful candidate must be able to work well independently and within an agile environment.Requirements
- BA or BS in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics or a related field
- A background or familiarity in developing software in a scientific or research environment, with a strong demonstrated proficiency in Python
- Background, education, or a demonstrated interest in quantum information science
- Candidates with a background in an engineering or scientific field who are strongly proficient in programming are encouraged to apply
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience and capability with C++
- Experience in one or more concepts in quantum computing, e.g.: quantum error correction, quantum algorithms, quantum circuits
- Experience or familiarity with one or more commercial or open-source quantum software tools (Qualtran, Cirq, Qiskit, PennyLane, etc.)
- Experience developing software for hardware accelerators, and/or for high performance computing (HPC) systems.
- Competence with Git version control, unit-testing frameworks, build tools, CI/CD pipelines
