Job description: SMX is seeking an Electrical Engineer with knowledge of System Engineering processes (SETR) Requirements Traceability, Analysis of Alternatives, Preliminary Design Review, Test Readiness Reviews, Critical Design Review and associated design and documentation requirements in the SE process with experience with communication networks and systems. This position will support various contracts and work assignments under the SMX Global Defense Business Unit with a large variety of networking designs and implementation of communication systems programs. The Candidate will work with projects including legacy, current and next generation telecommunication, and related communications-electronics (C-E) systems. To provide System engineering support on various DoD IT systems and infrastructure components and must be knowledgeable of both wired and wireless network devices such as [but not limited to] network switches and routers, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Satellite Communications (SATCOM, Radio Frequency (RF) systems and encryption devices. The candidate will focus technology acumen on assisting design and integration efforts for integration of both legacy and current state of the art technology supporting various Department of Defense (DoD) entities. The candidate will follow the guidance of designated team lead(s) to ensure team cohesion and mission success. This position may require a non-standard work schedule and frequent travel. Position requires 25% travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations to perform system integration and sustainment support efforts for IT systems.This position requires a DoD secret security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Candidate will Perform System Engineering lead tasks which include by not limited to IT and IS Systems Engineering, Production, Sustainment
- The candidate will perform leadership role and functions for the System Engineering processes (SETR) Requirements Traceability, Analysis of Alternatives, Preliminary Design Review, Test Readiness Reviews, Critical Design Review and associated design and documentation requirements in the SE process
- Candidate will perform tasks including (but not limited to):
- program management support
- Project operations and task management and oversight
- engineering, technical consulting, project support, and oversight to the execution of an array of mission critical wired and wireless communications projects
- review and audit of system functions of data communication networks
- Candidates will perform engineering support to a portfolio of tasks that aim to design and integrate modernization of IT and communications suites in a mobile tactical system
- Candidate may assist with technical documentation, network diagrams, inventory control documentation, and security documentation
- Additionally, the candidate will support and assist with field testing and system training events
Required Skills & Experience
- Clearance Required: Secret
- Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science with 3-5 years of related experience
- Supervisor and leadership experience as a project and program management 3-5 years
- 3-5 years’ experience with projects using the System Engineering processes (SETR)
- Security+ certification
- Basic understanding of C4I systems
- Basic knowledge of Windows operating environments
- Basic knowledge of Cisco network equipment to include routing and switching
- Basic Knowledge of Wide Area Network infrastructure
- Ability to troubleshoot, install, and maintain mobile C4I and related electronic communication systems and associated equipment
- Knowledge of the SE sub processes and procedures for, Requirements Traceability, Analysis of Alternatives, Preliminary Design Review, Test Readiness Reviews, Critical Design Review and associated design and documentation requirements in the SE process with experience with communication networks and systems
- Knowledge of DoD acquisition process, project management process, budget development and task lead requirements and implementation of project schedules and reports
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience in designing and implementing computer and information networks, such as LAN, WAN, intranets, extranets, and other data communications network Understanding of computer security measures and implementation of IT networks and IS computer systems
- Knowledgeable in RF wave propagation and SATCOM Link Budgets
- Experience and understanding of Persistent Systems, Motorola, Harris and HF radio communications implementation and administration for Systems Engineering, integration and configurations
- Experience with Wi-Fi 6 and 5G Cellular network implementations
- Experience in local, regional, network systems and subsystems supporting voice, video, and data Additionally, must have at least three (3) years of experience with First responder communications for national emergencies
