Job description: Overview:Bowhead seeks a Senior Training Specialist to support the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Space and Missile Defense (SDM) Center of Excellence (SMDCoE) also known as the US SMD School. SMD School (SMDS) core functions include: 1) Educate, train, and develop leaders for Space and Missile Defense operations; 2) Develop Army Doctrine for Space, High Altitude, and Global Missile Defense; 3) Develop individual and collective training tasks for Space and Missile Defense operations; 4) Train and educate the Army at large in Space and Missile Defense; and 5) Execute the US Army’s Quality Assurance Program to ensure standards are met in the education, training, and leadership development of Soldiers and Civilians.This position will provide support to the Faculty and Staff Development Office (FSDO) within the Division of Training and Doctrine (DOTD). Responsibilities:
- Provides training and instruction to support the Common Faculty Development – Instructor Course (CFD-IC) and Common Faculty Development – Developer Course (CFD-DC).
- Support and manage the SMDS Staff and Faculty Development Program.
- Provide administrative support to the FSDO and Staff and Faculty Development Program.
- Develop lesson plans, training materials, and course content.
- Conduct training sessions or demonstrations and develop evaluation criteria.
- Support and conduct instructor evaluations and certifications in accordance with the Staff and Faculty Development Program for instructor and training developer positions.
- Analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain education and education and training in accordance with TR 350-70 series and Army accreditation standards.
- Conduct research on new instructional and training development techniques and processes, update existing training materials as necessary, and develop new training materials after analyzing the results of the research. Research shall include coordination with the SMDS training divisions to ensure training materials updated or developed are current, accurate, and aligned with Army School institutional training materials.
- Conduct after action reviews (AAR), either in support of a government lead or independently, and report the results of the AARs for use in identification of trends for use in revision of training content as needed.
- Travel to conduct training as required. Qualifications:
- Minimum of High School education.
- 12+ years of related military experience as an NCO or Company Grade Officer or a bachelor’s degree.
- Understanding of Army staffing processes.
- Experience and understanding of military operations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail in written and verbal communications.
- Strong instructional design and facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in using technology for training and development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Previous instructor-facilitator experience.
- Ability to brief higher ranking officials.
- Understand the MDMP process.
- Knowledge and understanding of the ADDIE model.
Desired Knowledge/Skills
- Subject matter expertise and knowledge of military instruction, training development, TRADOC accreditation and instructor and training developer certifications, and staff operations.
- Graduate of a military instructor training course (CFD-IC, ITC/SGITC, FIFC, ABIC, AFBIC, etc.).
- Understanding of the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) process.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
