Job description: Our client, a leader in innovative and energy efficient luminaires, is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join their team in Highland, NY!Job DescriptionThe Mechanical Designer works closely with the Sales and Engineering Departments to provide support for the Selux product line, engineering, and manufacturing through the creation of fixture layouts and technical support for the sales force.Responsibilities
- Create submittal drawings utilizing AutoCAD for customer’s interior, exterior, and custom projects, including BOMs.
- Create layout drawings utilizing SolidWorks for customer’s interior and exterior projects, including BOM.
- Evaluate change requests for comprehensive feasibility.
- Revise existing drawings per change requests as needed.
- Manage drawing queue diary by checking daily.
- Collaborate with other application technicians on projects.
- Maintain standard product CAD sheets.
- Check other application team members’ projects for accuracy in a team setting.
Essential Skills
- Proficient with 3D CAD software; AutoCAD & SolidWorks
- 2+ years of Mechanical/Architectural design experience using AutoCAD & SolidWorks
- Mechanical drafting experience preferred
- 2-year design certificate from a Technical School

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 4-year BSME degree is a plus
Work EnvironmentManufacturing setting with 75+ employees. Work schedule is 1st shift, 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday from 7:30am to 5pm and Friday from 7:30am to 11:30am. The position offers stable design contract work for at least 6 months with potential for extension or conversion. The team has a creative, new product development feel, and the role includes accrued time-off and paid holidays (6).Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 – $30.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
