Job description: Job Title: Substation DesignerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Substation Designer who will focus on the physical design of substations throughout all project phases. The role requires collaboration with Engineers, Project Managers, Designers, and Drafters to complete physical substation designs and work through various design components, including plans, sections, and elevations. The ideal candidate should be able to visualize substation designs in 3D.Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project team members to complete physical substation designs.
- Coordinate with Engineers, Project Managers, Designers, and Drafters.
- Work through design components, including plans, sections, and elevations.
- Visualize and develop 3D designs of substations.
Essential Skills
- Experience in substation design, specifically physical design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of 3D design tools such as Microstation.
- Understanding of substation engineering and power delivery.
- Experience in architectural design and electrical engineering.
- Ability to visualize designs in 3D.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- At minimum, an Associate’s Degree in Drafting, AutoCAD/Design, or equivalent technical experience.
- Minimum of 3+ years of substation physical design experience.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
Work EnvironmentThe ideal candidate will work in the Chicago market, preferably 3 days a week (Tuesday – Thursday) at the downtown Chicago headquarters, which offers beautiful views of Lake Michigan and the city. The office is surrounded by great food spots. A fully remote option is available, with a secondary market preference for Michigan. The work environment is stable and consistent, with opportunities for long-term career development and movement between different divisions as needed.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.27 – $55.29/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
