- Review and understand complex data center construction projects that are being constructed by colocation lease providers. Have the ability to analyze the projects for risk profiles and work with colocation providers to mitigate.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term standards and strategies for data center colocation construction projects delivery certainty to align with organizational goals.
- This team’s role will focus on the base building and MEP infrastructure portions of the project. They will be required to coordinate with the DCIB teams that are executing the tenant fit out data hall white space projects separately.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Project Oversight: Lead and manage the construction oversight efforts of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
- Risk Evaluation: analyze projects independently to evaluate the risk profiles associated with timely delivery, address gaps in risk identification and mitigation and inform the business of associated potential impacts.
- Tenant Fit Out Integration: Work closely throughout design, construction, and commissioning to fully coordinate and integrate the separate scope of tenant fit out projects with the DCIB teams leading these efforts.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
- Design Coordination: Collaborate with design teams to ensure that construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, facilitating clear and effective communication.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
- Provide ongoing colocation Provider evaluation input for continuous improvement
- Regular project visits to ensure schedule, coordination, and quality will be required throughout the life of the project on a regular basis.
- Innovation and Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance data center performance and sustainability.
- Attend meetings held in various time zones to support live engagement and support of international projects.
Required Skills Include:
- Heavy knowledge of base building data center construction- civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic Planning: Strong skills in developing and implementing long-term strategies and establishing program level requirements.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements.
- Project Management: Expertise in managing large-scale data center construction projects from inception to completion.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of professionals.
- Budget Management: Proficiency in creating and managing project budgets.
- Risk Management: Ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Vendor Management: Experience in selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with vendors and contractors.
- Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications: Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers Interacts internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development.
