After all, our customer is ultimately the patient.POSITION TITLE: Instructional Designer – Days (8am to 5pm)SHIFT HOURS: 8:00am to 5:00pmLOCATION: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NYHOURLY PAY RANGE: $24.00hr to $34.00hrJOB SUMMARY: Instructional Designers apply writing, video creation, communication, and organizational skills to create training materials. They explain complex information in an accurate, clear, and concise manner. Instructional Designers must interface with trainers, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and other subject matter experts to collect, integrate, and present instructional information, used to train a variety of personnel. They set and apply training material standards that provide clear instructions to their end-users (trainers and trainees), maximize document workflow, and adhere to a cohesive company-wide documentation strategy.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Write and revise training documents (consisting of, but not limited to, work instructions).
- Develop videos, and other multi-media content, used to supplement training documentation.
- Observe and analyze new or changing processes to create training materials.
- Collaborate with upstream/downstream customers, subject matter experts, and users of training materials.
- Interface with trainers for input on usability/trainability and current training practices.
- Establish style and content standards for training materials and documentation: maintain the consistency of standardized training materials.
- Actively participate in process improvement and new process introduction projects.
- Coordinate training material remediation and development projects with other teams/departments.
- Offer insight on how similar products, equipment, processes are currently documented.
- Create draft documents for Process Validation, Deviation Requests, and Reworks.
- Translate early stage and engineering drafts, of process related documents, into an operator-appropriate format and language.
- Update training materials, based on the direction provided by CAPAs, the prevention/corrections of non-conforming materials, and as recommended by Risk Management efforts.
- Conceptualize, request, and implement physical training aids (e.g., graphics, diagrams, demonstration models, etc.) that improve training engagement and trainees’ ease of understanding.
- Identify learning objectives associated with specific training materials, for use in the evaluation of training effectiveness.
- Accomplish all other duties and tasks as assigned or requested.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide input on other groups’ documentation changes to ensure conformance to corporate documentation strategy.
- Serve as a linkage between R&D, Engineering, and Production, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with any personnel performing training.
- Complete assignments on time, stay on task and minimize interruptions of work.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, per the LSI SOLUTIONS® Employee Manual.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of experience as an instructional designer, technical writer, or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment preferred (medical device preferred).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Skilled in writing clearly and concisely.
- Skilled in recording and editing videos.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with a proven ability to understand and communicate/simplify complex technical concepts in an effective manner using end-user friendly terms.
- Able to assess the effectiveness of training materials.
- Possesses a solid understanding of document standards and criteria.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
- Able to work independently as well as alongside team members or as part of cross functional teams.
- Operate in a fast-paced, dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and other applications within the MS Office Suite.
- Experience with basic video recording equipment and video editing software.
- Maintain good and cooperative relationships with colleagues involved in other aspects of the process or operations in order to promote strong teamwork.

- Sitting, standing and/or walking for up to eight hours per day.
