May also be required to perform other specialized clerical duties in other areas of the health department.Duties include contact with the public and staff of the agency.Greets patients promptly, professionally, and courteously.Obtains appropriate information and screens for eligibility following program guidelines, federal, state, and local policies/procedures.Provides appropriate and accurate information needed by patients for participation in the WIC Program.Issues food instruments per program policies/procedures.Processes unissued food instruments and other reporting requirements accurately and in a timely manner.Completes voter registration declination forms and assists in maintain the formula logbook to ensure all formula in accounted for.Established, maintains, and processes patient records including DPH Form 1862 and food instrument registers. Follows paper documentation process if SCWIC is not functional. Follows the medical records policies/procedures.Performs a variety of assigned office duties to other program areas including but not limited to: Mailing patient notifications, scheduling patients for appointments. Ensures clinic site is adequately supplies with necessary forms/supplies. Assists with telephone coverage.Provides overall support for health department activities on site and in the community.State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.Agency Additional Requirements: Two (2) years’ experience in a responsible office setting or an associate degree in secretarial science or related field and one (1) year experience in a responsible office setting. Must be able to respond timely and appropriately to frequently changing conditions and to make recommendations concerning procedural improvement to office/maintenance operations.Must be able to drive to outlying counties and to non-traditional settings.DPH employees are required to participate in disaster preparedness during hazardous weather or declaration of an emergency. This involves being subject to duty and or call on a 24-hour basis.You must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable transportation.This position may require working early (before 8:30 am), evening (after 5:00 pm) and/or Saturday’s.Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time, if required.IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS: All new employees who are healthcare providers with job-specific exposure risk are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella, and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application may upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application. Institutions of higher learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
