The Department of Labor & Industry, Unemployment Compensation Tax Review Office (UCTRO) is looking for an analytically minded Administrative Assistant 1 to complete our team. This position gives you the opportunity to process unemployment compensation (UC) contribution petitions for reassessment issued by Office of UC Tax Services. Bring your dedication and ambition to our department and unleash your potential!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs an Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for facilitating the resolution of the petition process and providing administrative support for the Administrator and Chief Hearing Officer. While utilizing your detailed knowledge of the UC law and regulations as well as General Rules of Administrative Practice and Procedure (GRAPP), you will be performing reviews of the pending petitions, including analyzing the grounds and reasons provided in the petition in order to determine the course it will take. You will have the opportunity to handle correspondence from petitioners, attorneys, third-party representatives, Office of UC Tax Services (OUCTS), and the Office of Chief Counsel (OCC) regarding pending petitions. Work includes analyzing and identifying deficiencies in incoming petitions and tailoring non-routine correspondence to address those deficiencies. This analysis involves reviewing late, blank, non-notarized, and weak petitions to determine if the petition needs a dismissal order drafted or if the petition can go forward for further review. Additional responsibilities include:
- Scheduling hearing and court reporting services
- Recommending changes to administrative processes used to manage workflow
- Reviewing forms, notices, and letters for compliance with procedural changes
- Preparing routine and non-routine reports
- Attending and participating in meetings and required trainings

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
