The equipment manager will collaborate with program leadership ranging from the MCS program coordinators, clinical care teams, vendors, patients, and community associates.Responsibilities
- Provide input on guidelines and policies related to MCS equipment management
- Maintain MCS equipment inventory and tracking
- Collaborate with Health System purchasing departments including the Operating Room and Perfusion
- Serve as a liaison with MCS equipment vendors
- Support the MCS patients and multidisciplinary care team with equipment needs
- Collaborate to maintain MCS equipment databases
MCS Patient Distribution and Support:Disseminate MCS equipment to patients in the hospital and clinic settingProvide technical support for MCS equipmentObtain donated MCS equipmentManage return of products to manufacturer when indicatedMCS Hospital Inventory Management – Inpatient & Hospital-based clinic settings:Sustain adequate par levels of MCS equipment (new and in-house)Maintain back-up and emergency equipmentCollaborate with clinical engineering and DHTS on deployment and maintenance of equipment including safety checksMaintain in-house patient use of equipmentSupervise equipment expiration dates and complete replacements as neededManage packaging, shipping and tracking of all MCS equipment returned to the manufacturer or on loanAid the clinical care team with maintenance, cleaning, and proper storage of MCS equipmentMCS Patient Inventory Management, Documentation and Billing:Document MCS equipment implanted and/or provided prior to discharge or in the clinic setting in patient medical recordIn partnership with administrative assistants, complete MCS database entry for newly deployed equipment or exchangesIn partnership with administrative assistants, complete charge capture responsibilities upon distributionMCS Safety and Reporting:Execute patient safety report as necessaryAct upon medical alert notices and recallsAssists in troubleshooting problems with equipmentCoordinate maintenance and servicing for hospital MCS equipment and MCS equipment in the patient homePrepare MCS equipment and pumps according to manufacturer’s procedures and regulationsReport equipment problems to the appropriate department(s) and/or manufacturer(s)MCS Patient Training and Educate:
- Support clinicians in reinforcing education and training related to equipment maintmaintenanceoperation
Minimum QualificationsEducationHigh school education or equivalent.
