Join a collaborative team committed to impactful content creation and city-wide engagement.About the RoleWe are seeking a Freelance Content Manager / Influencer to be the public face and content creator for on social media. This position encompasses filming, client communication, content creation, and voiceover work to promote Chicago’s unique businesses, events, and attractions. Working closely with the Director of Marketing and a freelance editor, you’ll craft engaging, on-brand content that resonates with the audience.This role will also require writing and recording voiceover scripts to give videos a distinct and personable voice. The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller, skilled in connecting with an audience, and has a background in social media video production.Key Responsibilities
- Brand Representation: Act as the on-camera personality for @ChicagoDoes, delivering authentic, personable reviews of Chicago’s businesses and attractions.
- Content Creation: Capture high-quality video, incorporating B-roll, interview footage, and self-shot segments. Capture clear audio for voiceovers and interviews.
- Voiceover Scripting: Write and record voiceover scripts with natural inflection, personality, and continuity that aligns with @ChicagoDoes’ tone.
- Vision Walkthrough: Work with the freelance editor to present a vision for each video, explaining how the captured footage, voiceover, and other assets will align to create a cohesive story.
- Client Communication: Communicate with clients to understand their goals, preferences, and highlight requirements, building strong, positive relationships.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate shoots with the Director of Marketing, accommodating client and team schedules. Use a shared calendar to ensure organized, timely delivery.
- Footage Sharing: Upload, organize, and label all footage and voiceover files for seamless handoff to the editor.
Required Skills and Experience
- Social Media Video Production: Proficient in filming short-form content on mobile devices, with a focus on Instagram and TikTok.
- Interpersonal Skills: Comfortable working with clients, conducting casual interviews, and engaging with an audience authentically.
- Content Strategy & Storytelling: Ability to craft engaging, on-brand content that reflects @ChicagoDoes’ voice and connects with its audience.
- Voiceover Writing & Recording: Strong ability to write and deliver personable, engaging voiceover scripts that enhance the video’s storytelling.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple shoots, track schedules, and work closely with the editing team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to interact with clients effectively and collaborate with the internal team.
- Background in Journalism or Media: Experience with narrative-driven content adds value to our storytelling.
- Marketing Insight: Understanding of basic marketing principles to balance entertainment with key messaging.
- On-Camera Experience: Comfortable doing live interviews, engaging on-camera, and leading casual conversations with guests or business owners.
Tools and Equipment
- Provided: DJI gimbal, Rode microphone set for high-quality audio recording, Adobe Creative Suite access for footage management.
- Required: A high-quality smartphone for video capture, personal laptop, external storage for footage, and headphones for audio checks.
Location & Schedule
- Hybrid: In-office one day per week (River North location) with flexible scheduling; local travel for filming as needed.
- Remote Work: Non-office days are remote, with flexibility for local shoots.
