Job title: Community Development Specialist

Job description: 2 Year Position in the Community Development Department.
Performs professional work in the development, implementation and monitoring of community and economic development programs; performs related duties as required.
- Assists local governments with planning potential projects.
- Assists local officials with preparation of pre-applications and applications for CDBG, EDA, ARC, State Surplus, KIA, Rural Development, and any other applicable funding source. Application procedures include the compilation of application documentation.
- Attends site visits with DLG staff for projects being considered for funding.
- Attends meetings for funded projects with DLG staff to discuss implementation.
- Works with local governments in implementing in implementing all community/economic development projects.
- Administers funded projects, including preconstruction conferences, progress meetings, preparing draw requests, checking with contractors for compliance, preparing required reports, etc.
- Assists local governments in establishing incentives to attract and retain new and expanding businesses.
- Prepares community and economic development plans.
- Assists local governments in the procurement of professional services.
- Provides information and technical assistance to developers.
- Attends state training.
- Prepares and maintains records and filing systems.
BA degree Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or closely related field supplemented by one year work experience in related field. If required by the funding agency, the employee will be licensed or certified.Additional skills/abilities:
Technical writing skills, public speaking skills, oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, etc.About Lake Cumberland Area Development District:We serve as regional planning agencies, forums, clearinghouses, technical centers and as conveners for the region while administering numerous federal, state and local programs. Unlike many other organizations structured along multi-jurisdictional lines, ADDs have both federal and state statutory authority.
Expected salary: $30000 – 40000 per year
