Join us and start doing your life’s best work.The Business Process Consultant role is responsible for leading all phases of readiness activities that support operations and will be working within the Inbound Modernization Correspondence and Technology team. The incumbent will provide subject matter expertise on implementation support, measurement standards, and program revisions that incorporate best practices with proven outcomes. This role will help focus on implementing value-based digital solutions across the organization.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:
- Create, control, improve, implement, execute and monitor end-to-end business processes
- Lead project implementation teams in process improvement activities
- Lead project implementation teams in defect remediation activities
- Gather requirements for quality reporting, analysis, and audits for developing plans and programs to support continuous quality improvement using applicable tools
- Assist in the creation, implementation and evaluation of multiple risk and quality programs
- Oversee the work of others
- Develop innovative approaches
- Ability to be a creative and innovative thinker, flexible, open to change, and comfortable sharing ideas, positively accepting changes to planned strategies and giving direction to others
- Exceptional attention to detail and extremely organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Serve as a leader/mentor/providing direction and leadership support for new initiatives
- Engage with business operations to drive operational process changes required for new or enhanced services in the paperless space.
- Lead in documenting and creating business process flows related to existing processes as well as new processes
- Document business process changes to support technical/system development and business operations readiness and implementation requirements gathering
- Participate in the development of product goals and operational business impact assessments
- Strong negotiation skills: the ability to gain acceptance from others of a plan or idea and achieve a mutually beneficial outcome
- Ability to make decisions; work with minimum guidance; seek guidance on the most complex tasks
- Manage timelines for projects, maintaining visibility on day-to-day activities with project work group throughout the project lifecycle
- Obtain needed resources from different functional teams and subject matter experts to implement process solutions and ensure operational readiness success.
- Coordinate with relevant internal and/or external stakeholders to ensure programs comply with critical organizational and business requirements
- Facilitate and moderate meetings to communicate with applicable stakeholders to provide project progress updates regarding objectives, goals, timelines, performance metrics and risks/roadblocks
- Create and/or implement communication materials (i.e. FAQs, Step Action Charts, Metrics) to socialize and operationalize new programs and or processes

- 5+ years of experience within business operations, analysis of business process and workflows, process mapping or a combination of all
- 3+ years of experience with Employer & Individual, Medicare & Retirement and or Community and State claim processing
- 3+ years of creating and implementing business processes
- 3+ years of managed care experience
- 2+ years of experience in writing business and/or system requirements
- 1+ years of experience with documenting processes and practices
- Proficiency with PC based software programs and automated database management systems required (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of organization policies and procedures and ability to apply principles to solve everyday problems in a variety of situations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to ever changing priorities
- Demonstrated problem-solving and strong analytical skills
- Self-motivated, able to work in a team, and demonstrates the ability to work independently
- Systems or equivalent work experience, combined with demonstrated experience utilizing continuous improvement methodologies in a corporate environment to observe, analyze, implement process improvements
- Proven ability to apply continuous improvement methods and cognitive thinking to comprehend, calculate results, analyze data and reason with stakeholders to problem solve and make educated business decisions
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human capital modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Demonstrated ability to lead the activities of others as well as manage and monitor results
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enrollment and eligibility experience
- Customer service experience analyzing and solving customer problems
- Agile Methodology experience
- Proficiency with Visio
- Medical, dental, or healthcare insurance experience
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team, excellent verbal, and written communication skills with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Ability to demonstrate an appropriate level of assertiveness in performing work responsibilities; strong problem solving, organizational, time management and team building skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a high pressure/stressful environment and maintain composure and professionalism and the ability to take initiative and be detailed in a goal-oriented environment

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
