This position has the responsibility of providing oversight and direction to students and their clinical education.Job Duties as a Radiologic Technologist include the following, other duties may be assigned:Performs radiographic procedures in the Emergency Room, Surgical Suite, Nursing Units, Main Department, and Ancillary Departments.Performs IV injections using safe sterile technique.Responds to emergency call back.Assists with orientation of new staff and students.Keeps area supplied and clean.Performs office responsibilities when required.Participates in in-services.Monitors vital signs as necessary.Performs EMR and PACS functions as necessary.Maintains equipment to decrease downtime and overtime expense.Participates in performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.Supervision includes technologists in orientation, radiology students and diagnostic student aides.Job Duties as a Clinical Instructor include the following, other duties may be assigned:Attend monthly Clinical Education Committee meetings.Maintain records on the student’s progress through the clinical education portion of the curriculum including validation of competency and attendance record.Assist in the development of clinical policies when needed.Assist in the development and revision of evaluation tools to measure student’s clinical skills.Orientate students to clinical affiliate including policies, protocols, and expectations.Ensure that each student is receiving equivalent clinical experiences at his/her affiliate.Understand the sequence of didactic instruction and clinical education.Provide a copy of the student’s semester clinical schedule to the clinical coordinator by the first day of each new semester.Maintain a monthly assignment schedule for clinical preceptors and communicate schedule to students.Serve on the Radiologic Technology Advisory Committee.Serve on the Radiologic Technology Admissions Committee.Review the revisions to the JRCERT standards when applicable.Maintain knowledge of University, College of Nursing & Health Professions, and Radiologic Technology Program policies, procedures, and student progress including FERPA and Title IX.Enforce policies and procedures as appropriate.Teach assigned clinical courses at the affiliate.Conduct and coordinate Clinical Practice Forums at least once per month.Evaluate student’s clinical competence.Evaluate the students assigned to his/her affiliate and turn in the final grade for clinical to the clinical coordinator during finals week.Develop the clinical assignments for the students assigned to his/her affiliate.Provide students with clinical instruction and supervision.Conduct training sessions at the affiliate for clinical staff who will be evaluating student performance (i.e., proper completion of the electronic clinical forms and understanding clinical competency process).Ensure that all clinical staff involved in student supervision understand and follow direct and indirect supervision including the repeat policy.Communicates with clinical staff and ensures adherence to policies that affect student clinical education.Conduct conferences with the students on clinical matters, responsibilities, and problems.Help students make decisions regarding professional plans and goals.Counsel and advise students assigned to the affiliate.Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education:The individual must be a graduate of a recognized Radiologic Technologist program or meet clinical experience, didactic course work and alternative eligibility as specified in the ARRT application for certification instructions.No experience is required.Clinical Instructor:Proficient in supervision, instruction and evaluation.Documents a minimum of two years’ clinical experience in the professional discipline.Maintains competency in the professional discipline and instructional and evaluative techniques through continuing professional development including but not limited to attendance at workshops, symposia, seminars, and professional society meetings.The individual must be licensed by the Indiana State Department of Health as a Radiologic Technologist, certified by the ARRT as a Radiologic Technologist, and maintain annual renewal/registration with the certifying organization.If registry eligible by the ARRT, employee must be certified within six months of hire to avoid termination.Employee must maintain BLS CPR certification for healthcare providers.Why Choose Deaconess?Deaconess Health System is the largest employer in the tri-state region, and operates under the direction of a local board, with a local focus.
