Our goal is to provide the highest possible quality of access to communication.Access services enable more than 650 deaf and hard-of-hearing RIT students to register and fully participate in roughly 23,000 credit hours annually in more than 200 highly competitive academic programs. DAS staff, who number over 240, provide annually well over 200,000 hours of access service. RIT designates the work of DAS critical to the institute’s mission. The Director of Operations supervises the large and complex business functions of DAS, including: the provision of 6000 hours of access service weekly during the academic year; manages 4 direct reports, two in the Scheduling Office, Asst. Director of Professional Development, Asst. Director of Visual Communications; supports the operational efforts of the six interpreting teams, two captioning teams, and the notetaking department; manages HR processes, and issues for consistency and compliance with ADA and RIT requirements; in collaboration with the RIT Office of Legal Affairs and the Director of DAS, monitors institute compliance with federal Office of Civil Rights (OCR) mandates; oversees the 100+ supplemental staff of freelance interpreters and remote captionists who work for DAS weekly; coordinates scheduling processes and timelines; manages extensive inventory of department equipment.The Director of Operations is a senior leadership position, reporting to the Director of DAS.The Department of Access Services (DAS) is charged with providing federally mandated access service to the 20,000+ students, staff, and faculty on RIT campuses worldwide. In addition to and in furtherance of the daily provision of access service, the Director of Operations is charged with the establishment of quality metrics and improvement systems to advance service quality and maintain high student satisfaction. The Director of Operations makes recommendations to the Director of DAS regarding optimal operational efficiencies for all processes significantly affecting central operations of Access Services. At times this involves the coordinating feedback and data from select staff throughout DAS, constituted on an ad hoc basis for the purpose of effecting needed implementations. This requires careful analysis of identified operational problems, and the development and coordination of evidence-based solution implementations, which frequently involve key administrators, faculty, and staff throughout the greater RIT community.Hourly/Salary Minimum60200Hourly/Salary Maximum100800
