Job description: Monument Chemical Job DescriptionPosition Title:Process Design EngineerJob Status:Full TimeReports To: (position)Engineering ManagerFLSA Status:ExemptDepartment:EngineeringWork Schedule:DayDescriptionWe are looking for an energetic process engineer to take ownership and responsibility of all process engineering related activities at site. Process Design Engineer will support the plant with following typical process engineering activities including, but not limited to:
- Equipment adequacy checks, PID development, Safety Valve contingency analysis and sizing, equipment specification, hydraulic evaluations, alternative selection, vendor coordination, control valve sizing, PHA closeouts, etc.
- Lead the activities associated with complete scope definition of projects. As such, the successful process engineer will work closely with all involved discipline leads and stake holders to seek their input.
- Take part in incident investigation and take the ownership for process engineering related incidents. In many cases the outcome of incident investigations will ultimately result in a project to improve the facility.
A successful candidate will regularly meet with production engineers to determine what current processes consist of and will collaborate to make adjustments accordingly in line with site overall manufacturing and reliability objectives. They’ll also perform risk assessments to determine what kind of improvements could be made to keep the facility running smoothly and efficiently.Essential Functions / Key Accountabilities
- Developing MOC packages
- Troubleshooting problems associated with manufacturing processes
- Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Leading small capital projects. The following activities maybe applicable: plant layout, equipment purchasing, construction, commissioning, startup, and training. Some aspects of projects will be executed by others based on schedule requirements and the incumbent’s skillset.

- BS Degree in Chemical Engineering
Experience / Required Skills· Minimum 5 years experience with an EPC or a petrochemical operating company· Knows how to do: Line sizing, Pump sizing, Rate existing equipment, control valve sizing, PSV sizing, etc· Basic knowledge of:o distillation columns, reboilers, condensers, process control, loading & offloading facilities, tank design, etc· This function will support both Bayport and Baytown sites. However, the main location will be Bayport site. Depending on demand at each site, work can be planned accordingly· Ability to work in a team environment.· Excellent technical and computer skills including MS Office, Visio, Bluebeam, Chemchad / Aspen+Certifications / Licenses List any required and preferred certifications/licensesPhysical Demands
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long periods of time, up to 12 hours per day.
- Working from a seated position for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms one to two times per day.

- Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Possible subject to environmental conditions. Activities could occur inside and outside.
- Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour.
- Subject to vibration. Exposure to movements of the extremities or whole body. Operate/drive utility vehicle.
- Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required. FRC uniform, hard hat, safety toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves etc.
